Ugh, had a whole message typed out and it disappeared.
The social worker called today. Not good. They want to transfer hubby to a psych hospital in Tennessee, 158 miles from here. He is still exhibiting "behaviors." It seems no nursing home will take him. I'm surprised. I know he can't be the first or only one. I asked her if I had a choice and she said it was that or take him home, while still being violent. So rock and a hard place. I asked her if I need to do anything. She said not yet. Apparenty, they don't have their ducks in a row yet. I really hope something changes soon. Never wanted this. Wish I never called 911.

WoW; I'm sorry you're going through this challenging ordeal, Angie. I wish You knew someone else who could help You. I think because of the Pandemic a lot of things/places are shutdown. Or they're overwhelmed and have no room. My virtual candle is still lit.

now they are talking about moving DH even further away to a psychiatric hospital in Columbus, Georgia, where there is even more Covid than Alabama, closer to 300 miles away, and she said if they don't find a place soon, he will have to come back home. I didn't think they could do that. It's not safe. I told her that and she said they didn't have a choice. The doctor still has not called me.

It's weird that the people who work at the hospital don't know what the other people are doing. The financial counselor called today. She said she's got all the forms ready for me to apply for Medicaid for my husband. She's going to mail them. She told me just sign and date them and we will be in. But of course, they could still turn him down. I asked her if she knew that the case manager called me yesterday about wanting to send him to a Columbus, Georgia facility. She didn't know anything about it. I told her I sent copies of his Medicare card and letter to the case manager. I asked her if I need to see a lawyer about the Medicaid application and she said no. She does this hundreds of times a year. If it were that simple that would be great, but I don't believe it. Everybody online says I need to talk to a lawyer first.

Well, that isn't very surprising. Not at all. Even being in the same building ...sometimes, it's just amazing how information doesn't get passed to the next dept.
At least now, the hospital has decided to look further into how it's going to be paid.
My sister didn't need an attorney when the Nursing Home she was in suggested that the Hospice get Medi-cal ( Medicaid California version); she had Medicare. All of the bills were paid including the medicines. Ka'at didn't want to be on Medi-cal. The Hospice Social Worker filled out the forms and did all the extra paperwork.
At least now the ball is rolling, and hopefully, they'll find a closer place to place him.

The person from Medicaid called this morning. She told me not to apply yet. She told me to put the money back in the bank, that Medicaid would want to know what I did with the money and I didn't have any proof, as I still have it. She said they would get him in a nursing home first and then apply for Medicaid, but I will probably have to pay what I have first. So no more money, and no money for a burial or cremation. But at least I won't have to worry about getting in trouble. She said she will talk to the case manager about trying to get him into a nursing home instead of the psych hospital so far away. So now we are in limbo again.
