| http://www.usatoday.com/travel/flights/2009-01-26-us-airways-river-crash_N.htm?csp=34 US Airway offered $5,000 to each passenger aboard the airliner. Pretty generous offer, I think. But, there's always someone who wants to make a buck or two extra. Mr Hart wants to "be made whole again".........meaning he wants to be made a millionaire. The comment section rips him a new one. | |

| On Fox news a few days ago Geraldo Rivera had some documents that showed that the very same airplane a few months before the crash into the Hudson River had a serious engine problem in which power was temporarily lost to both engines about 20 minutes into flight. The plane returned safely to the airport.
I have no idea how factual this is and the only place I heard it was from Geraldo Rivera. However, if it is true it would seem that there very well might be some serious liability incurred by U.S. Airways in that it allowed the plane to continue flying knowing that there was a problem with the plane's engines.
Obviously, an incident like that would have the mechanics check everything out but the question would remain: did they find the problem and fix it properly?

Art I would take anything Geraldo Rivera says with a grain of salt. At this point the cause of the engine failure seems pretty clear. "The National Transportation Safety Board said Wednesday it confirmed there were birds in both the airliner's engines. Remains from both engines have been sent to the Smithsonian Institution in Washington to have the particular bird species identified." | |

| Yes, it's now apparent that birds sucked into both engines caused the failure. Geraldo Rivera went down the wrong road with a false lead.
