Obama's Charm Offensive Produces Nothing From NATO\

The story still pathetically tells us how dazzled and awestruck Europeans are by this bumbling neophyte. Now weren't we told how much the world hated us while Bush was president and how loved we'd be once the glorious Age of Obamalot began?

Well it sure looks like we're getting less than ever from Europe. This would be considered a humiliating failure if it were anyone but Obama and the media just can't come out and tell the stark truth.

Barack Obama made an impassioned plea to America’s allies to send more troops to Afghanistan, warning that failure to do so would leave Europe vulnerable to more terrorist atrocities.

But though he continued to dazzle Europeans on his debut international tour, the Continent’s leaders turned their backs on the US President.

Gordon Brown was the only one to offer substantial help. He offered to send several hundred extra British soldiers to provide security during the August election, but even that fell short of the thousands of combat troops that the US was hoping to prise from the Prime Minister.

Just two other allies made firm offers of troops. Belgium offered to send 35 military trainers and Spain offered 12. Mr Obama’s host, Nicolas Sarkozy, refused his request.

The derisory response threatened to tarnish Mr Obama’s European tour, which yesterday included a spellbinding performance in Strasbourg in which he offered the world a vision of a future free of nuclear weapons.

Mr Obama – who has pledged 21,000 more troops to combat the growing insurgency and is under pressure from generals to supply up to 10,000 more – used the eve of Nato’s 60th anniversary summit to declare bluntly that it was time for allies to do their share. “Europe should not simply expect the United States to shoulder that burden alone,” he said. “This is a joint problem it requires a joint effort.”

So glad to see we're back in the good graces of Spain. That support of 12 troops is sure to be a fantastic help.

Funny thing, but when we went went into Iraq we had the support of 37 nations, but were constantly told it was a unilateral invasion. Now this bumpkin can hardly scare up a couple hundred troops, all the while still dazzling the Eurotrash.

What a joke.

You said it all, Jack! But I thought he used the words nuclear power somewhere! But then he could have said 'power' in some other speech in France. The reason we have to laugh about this is because France uses nuclear power to heat their homes, schools, factories, everywhere! And ..... they have been using nuclear power for about 40 years now with nary a problem!

I wonder how he's gonna get Russia, North Korea, China, Iran, Pakistan, India and other countries to give up their nuclear weapons? And if they don't - we CAN'T beause if WE DO - then WE'RE DEAD! But ... he can always raise our taxes again - - for MORE money to bribe those countries and guess what? They'll take the money and then nuke us while enjoying our GREEN contributions! Oh, well, what's a few trillion $$$ more to worry about anyway? We won't need any money if and when we're all nuked out of existence!
