| Straight down party lines. Figured as much. Everyone wants Obama to fail, even though he inherited this mess from Bush. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090213/ap_on_bi_ge/congress_stimulus Yet the American people did not get to see Bush's Stimulus package, which did nothing. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23143814/ Nor did the American people get any idea about the costs of going into 2 wars. http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1868367,00.html | |

What's more important is then noone in congress or the White House read the 1100 page bill and thus had no objective basis to vote for it. Kudos to the few who had a sense of stewardship to the American taxpayer and voted against it.

No one on the left wanted Bush to fail when he was in office, did they?
How conveniently we forget the last 8 years!
It's not about BO failing, it's about his policies.
I thought that speaking out against your government was patriotic, or is that just true when conservatives are in office?

| I've heard many times over the years that few congress people ever read most of the bills that are passed so not reading the stimulus bill is apparently business as usual in congress.
And people on the left wanting Bush to fail? Heck, he failed miserably without any help from the left. He did it mostly by himself with a little help from Dick Cheney.

Well close . Without Big AL from MN I believe the democrats still have 58 senate seats , 2 Independents ARE NOT independent most of the time ( or are they in the number I was reading already ? , As they needed three votes . ) Teddy was not given travel permission , so Sen. brown had to leave his mother and family , at her wake hop a small government plane , presumably flown by the air force to Andrews , rushed to the senate floor , Lights & sirens I'LL bet , to do his duty , then back to the plane and back to OH . Lets see here vote was 60 - 38 = 98 the 2 missing would be Teddy and the empty seat , so that's 57 dem. So Specter and THE Gals from ME make 60 , what would become of it if Coleman had gotten over the required minimum for victory without automatic recount ? And in the 2nd rate oop's lower Body of congress 246 - 183 + 1 present ( from IL , Where have I heard that before ? = 430 ? I thought there were more congress persons than that , ( Wiko said 255 democrats , 5 non voting seats 178 republicans + the 2 Below open seats makes the 435 )are some seats open yet ? The chief of staff and Hillary's replacement came from the house , they have to be filled by special election . In chicago If I red right ATLEAST 5 are running ! When there is a good paying job can't blame someone for wanting it I geuss . Some how my math is off 430 vote on the bill 5 are non voting members , 435 + 2 open seats so I would think no vote .

Probably true, but the Dems made sure no one would have time to read this bill even if they wanted to. That's Chicago style politics. - Quote :

Art Yes, based on your and a few other's posts I could only conclude you wanted him to fail!
As for help, he had plenty from the Democratic controlled congress and senate. After all the facts clearly show that the Democrats caused the current financial crisis and the collapse of confidence in the world's banks.
We now know that many of the senators who protected Fannie and Freddie, including Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Christopher Dodd, have received mind-boggling levels of financial support from them over the years.
