as you undoubtedly have experienced it on TV.
You'll know Pat Sajak and Vanna White ... but you won't see them here in this version of the game in The Community.
There are still puzzles, which start with blank spaces and a category name to help guide you toward the solution.
But everything else is different.
The players are self-selected (No going to Hollywood for a tryout!) ... and all you need to do, is be a member of The Community , in order to qualify as a player.
That membership permits you to ask for letters, and solve the puzzle when you can.
That's the other big difference! Because when you have solved Puzzle #1, you're transformed into the Puzzle master, and you must dream up Puzzle #2!
From there on, the game proceeds just like the TV game, except there isn't a row of contestants.
There are all the members of The Community , who may decide to toss in a letter request, or solve the game. And it becomes your duty to enter the letters in the right blanks, acknowledging their requests.
A winning solution is just that: a reply which provides the proper answer.
And you as Puzzle master will be the sole judge of what's proper.
Keep in mind that how the words may sound is the key to your decision about awarding a win!
In other words, there is no premium on perfect spelling -- just so the words if spoken aloud might sound like the perfect answer!
That means you, as Puzzle master, might award a win if someone answered the sample puzzle below with YUU CUN DO THIS, ALSO!
The other thing to note is that this game moves sedately.
Our players are living their lives. They go shopping, sleep, make love (we hope), go out to movies -- or stay home and watch TV -- all things which interrupt their attendance at the game.
The Puzzle master is expected to check the game's progress about once an hour.
If that's not going to be possible, the Puzzle master should advise players of what's going on. For example, one might post a notice that you're going shopping and running some errands, so the next update will be in about 2 to 3 hours.
